A letter from our dressmaker

Hi everyone,

The lady who is in charge of wardrobe for this year’s show, Michelle, has kindly put together a letter which should clarify procedure for payment, what to do if there is a problem etc. Please read and keep this for future reference. the telephone numbers for all members of the costume team are included in the letter.

Show Costumes

As you are probably aware, we have now started making the costumes for the show in July.

As not everyone has been involved in a show before, we thought it might be a good idea to clarify the procedure we will be following.

Your child will be sent home with an envelope showing the cost for each costume they need.

Prompt payment is greatly appreciated as we need the money to fund the purchase of the next batch of the materials, but should you receive several envelopes in quick succession please feel free to pay each one individually over several weeks.

Please place the money in the envelope and put it in the plastic box marked “Costume Money” that will be out at each lesson.

Once paid for, we will forward the costumes on to you as soon as they are completed.

Upon receiving the costumes, could you please try them on you child and if you have any concerns regarding the fitting, please see the dressmaker as soon as possible.

Would you please iron (where necessary) and hang up the costumes so they look nice and fresh for the show.

Please do not deduct your deposit money from the cost of any costumes as this will be repaid by Miss Anita at the dress rehearsal.

The dressmaker responsible for your child’s costume will be printed on the envelope and if you have any problems regarding a certain costume, would you please speak to them in the first instance.

We try really hard to keep the cost of each costume to a minimum, but as with everything at present the cost of materials is skyrocketing.  You will need to budget between ₤15 and ₤35 per costume.

Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Yours,

The Costume Team

Christmas Break etc.

Hi Everyone,

Both presentation evenings are now over and I think everyone who attended had a very good time! I hope to have some photos up both on the website and facebook page before long but if you have any of your own that you could send me, they would be very welcome! Those of you who were unable to attend and are still waiting for certificates, don’t worry, we will be giving them out in normal class time over the next couple of weeks. I will hopefully be getting ‘show slips’ to you all aswell, I’m afraid I’m a bit behind with this for various reasons.

The Chorley School will close for the Christmas break after lessons on Wednesday December 14th, The Croston School after lessons on Thursday Decamber 15th. Both Schools will re-open on Saturday January 7th. Could I please give a reminder to those of you who have not yet settled current invoices to do so as soon as possible.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year, and thank you all for your continued support.

Hi everyone,

Will parents of children due to collect certificates (Primary – Grade 2) from exams taken this year, please let me know as soon as possible whether or not you are able to attend the presentaion on the afternoon of Nov. 27th. Details are shown in previous posts.

I have had replies from some people but it is important that I know numbers as soon as possible please.

Many thanks

Anita Murray

Presentations for Junior School / Social Evening

My request to book St. George’s Church Institute, Trinity Rd. Chorley, PR72DW as our venue for the presentation of certificates has now been accepted and confimed.

Due to capacity limits at this (and other venues I have looked at) we will have to split the presentations into two separate occasions. Dates confirmed for St. George’s are Friday evening, November 11th for the older children and their parents, and Sunday afternoon  November 27th for the younger children and their parents.

Sunday November 27th will be both a presentation event for the lower grades (Primary through to Grade 2) who have certificates due, combined with a ‘Jacobs Join’ / Music and a few party games for the children.

We will start at 2pm and would ask parents to bring along a small selection of party food (disposable plates etc. to serve please). In order to try and have a ‘balance’ could we ask the Pre-Primary and Primary to bring savoury snacks and Grade 1 and 2 sweet treats please (this could include cordial / soft drinks). Once we have the party food in place we will then have the presentation of certificates to the children who took exams at the above mentioned level during 2011. As St. George’s do not allow ‘children’s parties’ as such, I must ask that parents stay for the fun and games with their children or if necessary, arrange for another parent to supervise.

Friday November 11th will be take the form of a social evening for pupils and parents. The presentation of certificates for Grade 3, 4, 5 ballet, Grade 3, 4, 5, 6, Modern and Grade 4, 5 and Inter Tap will take place at 7.15pm. This will be followed by a supper and disco — a charge of £5 per head will be made to cover the costs of these (The school will cover the cost of the venue). Please note that Grade 3 Modern people who are also due Grade 2 ballet certificates will have these presented at this event, not the Sunday afternoon party). . As we are now closed for the half term and this date is fast approaching, bookings can be taken by e-mail only and payment should be made in class time (correct cash enclosed in an envelope marked ‘Social Evening’ ) no later than Sat. Nov 5th. I really would appreciate an early reply as to how many people wish to attend as I have to organise numbers with caterers. Please note that numbers are quite limited so the earlier you can book the better!

Half Term Break

Hi everyone,

Can’t believe it’s nearly half term already! The schools will be closed on Saturday October 22nd, up to and including Friday October 28th. Lessons resume on Saturday October 29th.

Having just received the last batch of certificates from all the summer exams I am now in a position to try and organise a presentation evening. This will have to be after the half term break now as there is not much time beforehand to organise it properly. Details will follow as soon as possible along with confirmation of next year’s show dates.

Baby Leo has arrived! Miss Katie’s baby boy was born at 2.44 am today and weighed 6lbs 10oz. Mum and baby doing well!!

The school now has a facebook page — go to the school website (about the school page) and click on the facebook logo. (Please ‘like’ us)!

Have a safe and happy half term!

Notices for both Chorley and Croston School Pupils

Hi,

Due to St. Michael’s Open Evening, we will be unable to use our normal studios on Wednesday 14th September. All classes (except Musical Theatre)will take place at Hollinshead St. Methodist Church rooms for this one evening only. Musical Theatre will have to be cancelled on this date as Mrs. Mackay is needed at the Open Evening.

Due to the National Heritage events taking place at The Old School, Croston, the 1.15 tap class will not take place on the 10th September.

I have now received the examination results from Miss Conroy Jones ‘ session and will publish these on the website later today. Hopefully they will be available to view by late afternoon.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon

Anita Murray
