Every two years the school puts on a musical extravaganza – Hooked On Dance. The show takes place on the big stage at St Michael’s High School and is always very popular. We usually run for four or five nights plus an open dress rehearsal and tickets sell fast.

All of the numbers are choreographed by our staff and the children put in hours and hours of practice; inevitably the show requires additional rehearsal classes – particularly for the big production numbers and the grand finalé. Every class does at least one number in the show so all of the children get to participate in a “big production” and showcase their talents; from pre-primary right through to the seniors. We also rely heavily on parental support backstage so the show is very inclusive. Unfortunately, the shows cannot be put on “for free”; alas we do have to ask parents to contribute towards the cost of costumes and the hire costs for additional studio time.

Each show has a “big production” musical theatre showpiece and a classical ballet production; in the recent past we have had Mathilda, Annie, Oliver, and Hairspray from the field of musical theatre and Copéllia, La Fille Mal Gardée  by way of ballet.
